The aviation community in Florida is mourning the heartbreaking death of Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras, a 20-year-old co-pilot whose promising career ended tragically in a devastating Learjet 60 crash in Palm Beach County on Sunday, November 1, 2026. The accident claimed the lives of all nine people aboard, leaving families, friends, and loved ones devastated.

Nathalia’s mother and stepfather confirmed her identity to the New York Post on November 2, identifying her as the young co-pilot aboard the aircraft. Her death has brought renewed attention to her remarkable accomplishments as a teenager and her determination to pursue a career in aviation.

Nathalia developed a passion for flying at an early age. In 2023, she attracted media attention after obtaining her private pilot’s license at just 17 years old, before she had even earned her driver’s license.

At the time, she was a senior at West Boca Raton High School in Palm Beach County, Florida, and had already accumulated approximately 88 hours of flight experience.

Her aviation journey began in 2020, when she started ground school and developed the skills necessary to become a licensed pilot.

Inspired in part by her father’s interest in recreational flying, Nathalia pursued her dreams with dedication and determination.

During an interview with CBS12 News in 2023, she spoke enthusiastically about her ambition to become a commercial airline pilot or operate private jets.

Her achievements demonstrated a remarkable commitment to aviation at an age when many young people were still exploring their future career paths.

Tragically, her promising journey ended on November 1 when the Learjet 60 she was helping operate crashed near Military Trail in the Greenacres area of Palm Beach County.

The aircraft had departed Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas and was travelling toward North Eleuthera Airport in the Bahamas.

According to federal authorities, the aircraft experienced a rapid descent before crashing into a residential area and erupting in flames. All nine occupants died.

The National Transportation Safety Board is leading the investigation, with assistance from the Federal Aviation Administration. Investigators have not yet established the official cause of the crash.

Although the victims’ names had not been formally released by federal authorities in the initial reports, Nathalia’s family confirmed her involvement through published media accounts.

Her passing represents a devastating loss for those who knew her and for an aviation community that had witnessed her extraordinary early achievements.

At just 20 years old, Nathalia had already accomplished milestones that reflected her dedication, courage, and love for flying.

Heartfelt condolences are extended to her parents, stepfather, extended family, friends, fellow pilots, and everyone mourning the nine lives lost in the tragedy.

May her loved ones find comfort in the memories they shared and strength through the compassion surrounding them.

Rest in peace, Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras. Your passion for aviation, determination to succeed, and dreams of reaching new heights will remain an enduring part of your legacy.
