The family and community of Theilman, Minnesota, continue to remember Blaze Leland Himle, a beloved 12-year-old boy whose life was tragically cut short in a snowmobile accident on January 8, 2023.
Born on December 30, 2010, in La Crosse, Wisconsin, Blaze was the son of Marie Himle. He attended Bluff View Elementary School in Lake City, where he was in sixth grade at the time of his death.
Blaze had a deep love for his family, especially his mother and grandfather, whom he affectionately called Papa. He was fascinated by semi-trucks and dreamed of becoming a truck driver like his grandfather. One of his treasured experiences was travelling to California with Papa in his truck.
He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, particularly fishing and hunting. He loved animals, including his cat, Groot, and guinea pig, Tratter, and shared a special bond with his cousins Tori and Colton. He was also deeply devoted to his two half-sisters, Arlette and Dessiree.
Blaze died after a snowmobile accident on private property in rural Theilman. According to authorities, he entered a wooded area and struck a tree. Emergency responders attended the scene, but he could not be saved.
He is survived by his mother, Marie, her partner Cory Bendickson, his grandparents Dannie and Melody Himle, his two half-sisters, extended family members, and many loved ones who will continue to cherish his memory.
Blaze’s visitation was held on January 13, 2023, at Abbott Funeral Home in Wabasha, followed by his funeral service the next morning at First Lutheran Church in Lake City. He was laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery in Theilman.
Blaze will be remembered for his love of family, his enthusiasm for trucks and the outdoors, and the special connections he shared with those around him. May he rest in peace.
