KOKOMO, INDIANA — Family members, friends, and the Kokomo community are mourning the heartbreaking death of Hope Justice Jones, a 20-year-old woman whose life was tragically cut short in a single-vehicle car accident near Converse in Howard County, Indiana, on Sunday, October 11, 2026.
According to the Howard County Sheriff’s Office, the fatal collision occurred shortly after midnight along County Road 1350 East, north of County Road 500 North.
Deputies responded to the scene at approximately 12:29 a.m. after receiving reports of a serious accident involving injuries.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a black Honda Civic in a field beside the roadway. Hope, who had reportedly been seated in the rear passenger seat, was ejected during the collision.
Emergency medical personnel provided assistance, and a medical helicopter was requested. Despite the emergency response, Hope was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators identified the driver as 21-year-old Morgan Killebrew.
According to authorities, Killebrew reported traveling southbound when an animal entered the roadway, causing him to lose control after the vehicle’s passenger-side tires left the pavement.
Preliminary crash reconstruction findings indicated that the Honda traveled through a grassy ditch, began sliding, and struck a utility pole near its right rear passenger side.
The vehicle subsequently rotated, struck a telephone utility box and the ground, and came to rest in a nearby field.
Police confirmed that Killebrew cooperated with investigators and consented to chemical testing.
A preliminary breath test returned a reading of 0.00, while a blood sample was collected for additional examination.
The Howard County Sheriff’s Office and Howard County Coroner’s Office continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. The official cause and manner of Hope’s death remain pending.
