Her death marks the loss of a woman remembered for her determination, distinctive personality, craftsmanship, and deep commitment to the people around her.
From Taiwan to Dallas
Martin’s life story began in Taiwan before she eventually made her way to Dallas, Texas. Through determination, sacrifice, and years of hard work, she built ASM Auto Upholstery into a respected business.
Her family described her as someone who refused to allow the challenges she faced as a woman, immigrant, and minority to determine what she could achieve. Instead, she used those obstacles as motivation to create a life and career on her own terms.
Through ASM Auto Upholstery, Martin became known for her exceptional work and strong work ethic. Her reputation extended far beyond the Dallas area, with her work and personality reaching audiences around the world through television.
For many people, however, Martin was remembered for much more than her professional accomplishments. She had a fearless and outspoken personality and was known for making people laugh. Her family said that bringing happiness to others was one of the greatest joys of her life.
Remembered by Family, Friends and Fans
Away from her business and public profile, Martin was a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family remembered her as someone who was present for the important moments in their lives and whose strong personality was matched by a deep love for her family.
The family also expressed gratitude to Martin’s customers, friends, and fans who supported and appreciated her throughout her life. Their kind words, laughter, and encouragement became part of the story she created through her work and relationships.
Her family said they find comfort in their faith and believe Martin is now healed and reunited in Heaven with the Lord and her beloved husband. They have asked for privacy and understanding as they mourn her passing.
Martin leaves behind a legacy that extends beyond ASM Auto Upholstery. Her life represented perseverance, ambition, and the belief that a person’s beginnings do not have to determine their future.
Through the business she built, the people she helped, and the generations she inspired, Sue Martin made an enduring impression on countless lives. Her family says they will miss her deeply while carrying her love and memory forward.
For those who knew her as “Dragon Lady Sue,” her unforgettable spirit and legacy will continue to live on in the work of her hands and the many people she touched throughout her remarkable life.
